So really you can choose whatever makes you feel most comfortable : But personally, i think the best offence is a good defence! And for those who have finished the game a few times, it's more fun when you try something new I mean, i don't think most people would have chosen the shield when they first played, would they? Thats all competely correct Joined Dec 4, Messages 3, Reaction score 0 Points 0.
This guide will be extremely helpful for newbies to the KH universe. You should be commended on your research. What do you need help on? The gameplay is similar to that of the first Kingdom Hearts game, with the addition of the Reaction Command, which performs context-sensitive actions in battle. You may disagree though, if you use more magic than I do. Magic damage in this game is based on Max MP, and you get 2 additional MP overall for choosing the staff with the max for a staff user being 18 MP.
If you want to play Kingdom Hearts series in order, this is your best order to play the games:. If you choose Sword, you get offensive abilities such as Reaction Boost, Combo Boost, and such earlier.
If you choose Shield, you get defensive abilities such as Damage Drive, Defender, and such earlier. Your choices augment you starting statistics, how these stats develops, the order in which you learn moves, and the maximum number of item slots you can have by the end of the game. While AP, strength, magic, and defense can all be augmented by weapons and accessories, the number of available slots cannot.
You should pick the sword first. Shield is your second preference, but do not at all costs pick the magic rod. You need only do one of the six tasks, and earn at least 50 Munny, but the game gives AP bonuses for acquiring enough munny — 1 AP for Munny in total earned , and 2 AP for approximately Munny in total 1, earned. Depending on how players like to play the Kingdom Hearts series, the Staff may be the only viable option to sacrifice in the opening dream sequence.
Choosing to sacrifice the Staff will greatly reduce the number of spells that Sora can cast as well as his AP at the beginning of the game. However, AP can be increased as Sora levels up and it is very easy to play through all of Kingdom Hearts by using only Cure and Aero spells while focusing on melee damage using the Keyblade. The available MP pool only goes up if players choose to take the Staff, when Sora reaches a certain level, or with certain keychains equipped.

I usually go with the sword to get offensive abilities like Sliding Dash and Counterattack earlier on in the game.
Pick the staff. These abilities are a MUST in this game if you're playing on proud. You can't rely on Magic alot of the time, since you'll mostly need it for healing if you're a low level. On a casual playthrough, i just choose Sword and give up Defense.
I dont mind. Im only going with the above mentioned set up for my first proud playthrough in KH 1. Its critical that needs to be unlocked by doing Proud mode. Hey what will you recommend guys I'm thinking get shield give up sword and I'm gonna play on proud I have a system I first play on normal then easy then proud. Sacrificing the staff doesn't lower your MP or magic power, it lowers your AP. So when you sacrifice the staff your ability to get combo plus, lucky strikes, second chance, ect.
So, I guess what you get rid of only really matters early game, or until you start crafting stat boosts. That being said, in the final mix version picking the shield is probably going to be the safest path, and the staff is probably going to be the hardest path for new players. If you have MP haste you can heal a lot more because you're going to be hit a lot.
It's basically free magic when you're hit. You also get Second Chance at like lvl which if you're hit by a move that would normally kill you, it'd save you with 1 hp left so you'd be able to heal back up. It's like not even a question for me lol. The staff also gives you an extra bar of MP which is another free heal, and MP haste is awesome. You can heal like double the amount of times than if you didn't have it. Not to mention it gives you second chance extremely early into the game, whereas if you pick anything else, you'd likely get it after you already beat it because it gives it to you at lvl 60 or more.
But thanks for the tip though. In the original KJIn the original kingdom hearts it was normal and then expert mode were the 2 modes available, if I can recall?
